Create Own Run Commands for Applications & Softwares

How will you feel when you type your name in Run command and window will open particular software which you want and your friend watching surprisingly. we also don’t know all Run commands which is used to open for maximum software’s. That time create your own Run command for any software’s, this Run commands created by you so you can give any name as you wish.



And It is possible by two easy methods, one is with simple Registry key creating and another one is creating shortcut of EXE file. Use which one is Easy for you.

Here I show you how to do this, Just follow this simple steps.

Method 1- By Creating shortcut of EXE file.
Example-  VLC MEDIA PLAYER

Step 1-
Create a shortcut for VLC Player on desktop. For that-Just Right click on desktop or anywhere and select New then select Shortcut. It will ask you “Type the location of the Item” click on browse, and navigate to 

“C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe” (You can select your full application path). Now click on next. Give name “Test” (you can give any name as you wish) and click on finish.

Step 2-
You can see shortcut has created on desktop for VLC Player but name is “Test”. Just cut and paste that shortcut to your Windows directory. Exp- “C:\windows”. Now just open Run and type Test and press enter, it will open VLC Media Player.




Method 2 – By creating New Registry Key

Step 1-
Open Registry Editor (Type “regedit” in Run or Go to C:\windows and open regedit.exe).

Step 2-
In Registry editor navigate to key- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. Now Right click on  App Paths  and select New key and give name test.exe (You can give any name with extension exe is must).

Step 3-

Click on test.exe. you can see Right side Default string Value, Right click on it and select modify. In value data field paste 

C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe (This is full path of your installed software).  Now just open Run and type test and press enter, it will open VLC Media Player.
