Create Workgroup Network At Your Office with Windows 7 or 8

Creating a Workgroup Network in your office or home is not that much complicated. If you are not much well-matched with Windows 7 or 8 then also It is very easy. You can do it by yourself. In my previous post we learned about how to change an IP ADRESS, with the help of that post you can create your own workgroup network in your office or home. Main advantage of workgroup network is you can share your important data like documents, files & folder, printer with other users from your sitting place. No need use Pen drives and external HDD, there is chance to be infected with virus. And it will save your money also.

Here is how to do it with simple steps

Requirements-
More than two computer or Laptops with lan card, Switch (quantity of switches depend up on your computer numbers and model of switch)  all Computers or Laptops must connected with switch through Lan cable( CAT5 or CAT6).

Step 1
Windows 8- Click on start in apps select “Control panel” or Go to Run and type Control and press Ok. Windows 7- Click on start, Click settings then Click on “control panel” or Go to Run and type Control and press Ok. Now click on “Network and sharing center” and click on change adapter settings.

Step 2
Select your Lan card and click on “properties”, From networking tab select “Internet Protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4), and click on Properties. Now select Radio button “Use the following address”, and enter an IP ADDRESS like 192.168.1.10 subnet mask it will take automatically, default gateway you can leave empty there is no problem with this. Just click on Ok and close all windows.

Step 3
Do this on all computers and Laptops but every computer should be assign different IP ADDRESS
Example: PC1- 192.168.1.10, PC2- 192.168.1.11, PC3-192.168.1.12.........up to 192.168.1.250 or less.

Step 4
Right click on “My Computer” and select properties. Select “Computer Name” tab and click on “change” tab. Here you can change computer name and your workgroup name also (it is optional).

Step 5
Restart all Computers and Laptops, after rebooting share any printer or folder from any computer , Now go to any other computer and type in Run //IP ADDRESS or computer name of shared folder computer and click on OK. New window will open, make sure your shared printer or folder is available there.
