How to Block Programs Through Windows 8 Firewall

What is firewall? This is a software program or hardware that helps screen out hackers, worms and viruses that try to connect your computer from internet. Today we are going to talk about software firewall program. Firewall is a network security system which controls the incoming and outgoing network traffic by analyzing the data packets. For security reason firewall should be always on our system. with the help of firewall we can block any program which is connecting to internet and using more internet data without any reason. By doing this we can secure our computer from hackers and viruses.

Follow below given steps to block a program with firewall.

Step 1
Go to control panel by typing control in Run and click on Firewall. For windows 8 open start screen and type Firewall and select windows firewall or you can click settings and select windows firewall. One more simple way just type FIREWALL.CPL in Run.

Step 2
After opening a firewall window from left side pane click on Allow a program or feature through windows firewall. It will open a list of programs with check boxes next to them.

Step 3
Now click on Change settings button. If it ask for password provide password. Click on Allow another program , here you can add any program which you want to block or allow by clicking on browse button and application.

Step 4
Now uncheck the box of the program which you want to block. If the box is unchecked, firewall will obstruct it from connecting to internet.

Step 5
If you would like the program blocked from internet but allow for private network, check and uncheck the particular boxes to the right side of the program. Checking all boxes will allow the program to access the internet. Allow only that programs which you trust.

Step 6

After finishing all changes click on OK button to save your Firewall setting.
